March Birchbox

I’m so excited because I finally got an amika bombshell blowout spray sample in my Birchbox! I was actually going to flat out buy it without trying it because it got such great reviews. But now I get to try it out first! I have fairly thin hair and I love volumizing and texturizing products and I’m really excited to try this product out.

I also got these products in my Birchbox: Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentre, Jelly Pong Pong Glow Getter Highlighter, ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick in Dusk Til Dawn, and Yes To Cucumbers Facial Towelettes. […]

Lush’s Pink Bath Bomb

I’ve been totally obsessed with Lush’s bath bombs ever since I bought one last month on impulse. Lush claims that they “… don’t just take baths; we appreciate them. We relish them …” They have some amazing products! Between their bath bombs, bubble bars, and luxury bath melts, you have a smorgasbord of indulgent products to make your baths not just an normal routine but a, “special occasion.”

Lush’s bath bombs fizz and bubble to release fragrant aromas and vibrant colors. […]

Fun City Tattoo

I’m getting a new kitten in about a week, but I’ve still been thinking a lot about my late cat Won Ton. She died young, she was only six years old when she got sick, and I miss her a lot. When I first got her I got her name tattooed on the inside of my wrist in Mandarin Chinese. Now that she’s gone, I wanted something beautiful around my wrist to represent heaven’s gates and the beautiful life I had with her, even if it was short lived.

I decided to go to Fun City Tattoo on the lower east side because it’s one of the oldest tattoo shops in the city still running, its been open since 1976. It got lots of great reviews online, and I even got a personal recommendation from a friend. I booked my tattoo with an artist named Andrew Mann, who is new to the Fun City Tattoo team, but did a great job with my tattoo. […]

Diptyque Rosafolia

So, I found myself in Diptyque, which is a classy luxury candle and fragrance store, and they had burning a new scent for spring and it engulfed me. Even though its still winter in NYC and it just seems to be getting colder, I needed to buy this candle to make me think its spring. It really does smell like fresh cut flowers. They also gave me a matching perfume sample, which I love because I love samples.

Cremant Du Jura

A close friend of mine got me a great bottle of rose over Christmas that I finally opened in celebration of finishing my finals. It was honestly the best rose I’ve ever had. It had just the right amount of sweetness, not too overpowering. I would highly recommend it for a romantic date or picnic.

Sephora Philosophy Purchase

I was out of my favorite facial moisturizer, philosophy’s take a deep breath, so I bought some online at Sephora. Philosophy also makes very simple and clean scents and I noticed online that they are making a new one, called live joyously. I have a client that’s an interior designer and whenever I wear a philosophy scent, she always asks me what I’m wearing and tells me I smell wonderful. The live joyously perfume is a very clean scent that has just the right amount of floral. It’s a very happy smell that isn’t too overpowering. […]

Lush

Lush is a really amazing place. They make all natural skin care and bathing products that smell wonderful. The store can be a little overwhelming because their products smell so strong, and the combination of all those strong scents can be a little too much for some people. I know I never went into the store myself because of the strong odor until I got a personal recommendation to try them.

Their bath bombs and bubble bars are mind blowing. Their bath bombs fizz into a bubbly lather and have immersive scents. They really create a bathing experience. Their bubble bars create thick huge bubbles and leave your skin feeling extremely soft.

Elemis Spa Home Products

The de-stress massage oil is my favorite product. I bought it after I had a massage on a cruise. It has a great soothing scent that really helps relax you.

The tranquil touch body cream has a sultry scent that relaxes you immediately. It is a luxuriously rich body cream that deeply moisturizes. It’s a great nighttime body cream.

The quiet mind temple balm is an awesome product. You apply a small amount to your temples, the back of your ears, and other hot spots to surround your self with the scent. I use it right be before bed and it helps me get to sleep.

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day everyone! I hope everyone got to spend some time with their lover, or best friend soul mate! Anyway, my boyfriend and I had a great time. Even though we’ve been going through a little bit of a rough patch, he made sure that last night was really special for me. […] After taking some pictures we headed out into 10 degree weather to go to this bar called The Auction House. It’s a quaint, smallish place on the Upper East Side that is kind of like The Back Room in that it is a 1920s styled place that has fancy couches and small intimate seating areas for romantic couples. It’s a great place for a date, and the perfect place for Valentines Day. It unfortunately was really crowded when we got there and we could only find seats at the bar. If you decide to go to The Auction House, I would recommend going there early for a seat.

Ringly

I finally got my hands on my own Ringly!! I preordered in July, but it just came last week. Ringly is a fashion forward wearable technology device that gives you notifications when your phone goes off. There is an app you use to set what the ring does when certain things happen on your phone. For example, when my mother calls, it will vibrate four times and flash yellow because it is a phone call and it will flash red because it is my mother calling.

Girls Trip to Miami!

[…]
After lunch, we met up with the British boys (they were really men, married men actually) at the Hyde Beach pool party. This was my favorite part of the weekend. Tons of liquor, hot bottle girls, champagne showers, a beautiful pool, sandy areas around the pool to dance around, and lots of beautiful people to party with.
[…]
It was very sad to be leaving and we all had a really great time. I recommend Miami to anyone and I am definitely going back!

January Birchbox

Got my January Birchbox today along with another package from Birchbox with purchases. This Birchbox was lacking a little, but my last one was so on point that I could only expect there be a little variation in brands and price of products. I got a good-sized shampoo and conditioner (1.7 fl oz) that I will be taking with me to Miami because they’re a perfect travel size. I got a Harvey Prince Hello body cream (.5 fl oz). A Supergoop CC cream in fair to light that I’m really happy about because I get to use it on my Miami trip! Also, don’t forget that you should be putting sunscreen on in the winter too, not just in the summer! However, it’s a one-time use sample because it’s really tiny (3 ml). Lastly, I got Manna liplocked priming gloss stain. This is an interesting product because it’s not really a stain and it’s not really a gloss, and its actually not “glossy” at all. It uses a lip-gloss applicator, and besides the fact it’s really messy, there are no other factors that make this product a gloss. […]

Fabletics Purchase #2

I bought my second outfit from Fabletics and I really like the high quality design. I got the outfit called “wild” for $79.95, which comes with a racer back tank top tee shirt in the color of your choice (I chose black), a long sleeve wrap in black, and capri leggings in striped black and grey. They also sent a Tom’s naturally dry deodorant sample for free! The long sleeve wrap, called the “Austin wrap” is made from a comfortable fabric, has functional thumbholes, and has multiple ways to wear it. Everything fits great, is comfortable, and seems to be made from quality material. I am again pleasantly surprised by Fabletics.

Self-Tanner

Woot! I’ve officially booked my tickets to Miami and I’m so excited to have a girls weekend with all my friends!! I’ve already talked about detoxing and dieting, now I’m going to talk about self-tanner! Tanning outside can not only be harmful for your skin, but it can give you skin cancer as everyone knows. But I’m so pale that if I don’t have any base tan and I go to a place like Miami for the weekend, I always come back burnt to crisp. That’s why I like to use self-tanner to create a base tan so I don’t burn in the sun. […]

Let the “Detox” Begin!

So its after new years and I’ve planned my trip to Miami with all my girlfriends, and now its DETOX!! But what does the word “detox” really mean? Nothing. Scientists have debunked the word detox and most of the products out there that are marketed to “detox” your body can’t even point out what toxins they are removing from your body.

What I mean by detox is a healthy diet basically. Many people use the word “diet” to mean “starve,” but I like the word detox because its sounds better to most people because it’s a semi permanent state of living that ends at a certain point. But the ultimate detox is just to live a healthy lifestyle all the time, to eat lean, exercise and not drinking or smoking. But nobody’s perfect. […]

Mandee Purchase

Today I went to the 59th street Bloomingdales to pick out my luggage for a possible snowboarding trip or a trip to Miami with my girlfriends, or possibly both!! They didn’t have the luggage that I wanted so I ended up not buying anything. To feed my buying urges, I went to the H&M across the street. They had really nice stuff, so I picked out some stuff to buy. I never try things on at a lot of stores if I know my size, so I went straight to check out. There were like 50 people on line, and only 3 registers in working order. I waited around 15 minutes before only getting half way down the line and leaving. I hate it when stores don’t have enough people at checkout. Take my money goddam it!! But no, it seems as though H&M does NOT in fact want my money, or really anyone’s money at that matter because my complaining about the line didn’t faze the employees. No, they did not call another person to the registers. Yes, they were rude. They just sort of rolled their eyes and acted like “Oh, this is H&M, what do you expect?”

I walked out of the store without the $100 worth of clothes that I was going to buy. […]

New Years Eve

New Years was a great success this year! I had so much fun! First we (all 12 of us) went to a restaurant on the lower east side called Ducks Eatery. The food was beyond amazing! I got pig ears and chicken wings, and James got mussels and ribs. Those were the best chicken wings I’ve ever had in my life! That’s saying something considering I’ve been to a lot of restaurants in the city, including Red Rooster in Harlem.

I wore an old BCBG dress that I had in my closet, Walter Steiger heels that I got years ago, and a pair of new Hue tights that have a leather-like sheen to them. I used the eye shadow that my mom got me for Hanukkah, Stila’s Magnificent Metals Foil Finish eye shadow in Metallic Gilded Gold. It was pretty hard to get enough on a normal brush, so I might buy the applicator brush that Sephora recommends.

After dinner we all went back to our friend’s house in Williamsburg and watched the ball drop on TV and the fireworks from his balcony. It was such a beautiful setting, and a million times better than watching from Time Square. I had such a great time with all my friends together!

Holiday Party

My holiday party was an awesome success! All my old high school friends showed up, and some of my friend’s friends from college showed up. My friend Ariel, who loves to cook and make awesome drinks, came prepared. She bought two bottles of red wine and all the ingredients to make this hot drink called Gluehwein, and brought spiked hot apple cider. Gluehwein is a German/Austrian holiday drink that is served warm as an after ski drink. She got the recipe from allrecipes.com here. Earlier, I also purchased a bottle of Atmosphere extra brut sparkling rose and two bottles of Nicolas Feuillatte champagne. Ariel also brought tons of dumplings and even a pie!
