  • Crown Brushes Palette Tutorial Video

On Saturday, I went to BeautyCon NYC 2015 and picked up the Crown Brushes pure exposed eyeshadow palette. This tutorial features the Crown Brushes palette, along with a lip liner that I purchased. I also feature some of my current favorite products. I hope you enjoy!

  • BeautyCon YouTube Video

BeautyCon NYC was on Saturday, and it was an overwhelming and exciting experience. I had never heard of BeautyCon before I saw the Living Social deal, but the price was right and it seemed like a fun event to go to. I got tickets through the Living Social deal in July, and it was a good thing I got them early too because it was a sold out event.

Although I had a great time, purchased some great products, and would probably go again next year; I have a few negative comments to make about the event.

  • BeautyCon NYC 2015

BeautyCon NYC was yesterday, and it was an overwhelming and exciting experience.

I really didn’t like the fact that the event was geared toward consumers, not artists or professionals. A lot of the speakers were young vloggers, and there’re only one or two people I would consider actual professionals. There were also a lot of young tweens and teenagers there with their mothers. Maybe that’s why the event sold out so fast? All these silly little tweens needed their moms to accompany them so each little girl actually needed two tickets. Also, many of the stands inside were featuring makeovers. It was more about getting your hair and makeup done as a makeover, instead of it being about learning to do hair and makeup. Also, at my prime age of 27, I honestly felt like the oldest person there that wasn’t accompanying a child. There were lots of occasions where I would hear screams from little girls as if they were at some boyband concert, which got really annoying after a while.

I also felt as if the event didn’t really think things through or plan things that well. Online the event advertises that there will be food and they list outside food and snacks as items that cannot be brought into the event. So when I saw that there were only two food vendor stations outside, and only popcorn and cupcakes being served inside, I was obviously quite confused on how they expected to feed all these people. Also because there were only one or two vendors, the lines for food were horrendous. The lines for almost everything at BeautyCon were long, horrible, and extremely slow moving, and that was another big negative for me. The Crown Brushes line took around 20 minutes to purchase items, and the QVC line (that I didn’t get on) for free samples was double the length. When I left, around 2PM, the place was completely packed. The crowd was huge and the area between stands didn’t give people that much room to browse at items or even move around comfortably. There was always someone reaching around you to pick something up or someone squeezing by you because you’re taking along time to evaluate a product. I understand that its New York, but the Pier had plenty of floor space. I just don’t think they used the space to the best of their ability.

  • Rejuvamist Facial Steamer

    Diptic-Steam-01

The Rejuvamist Facial Steamer is a powerful little machine that produces a significant amount of steam. I purchased the steamer from Living Social for $80, but it sells on Lashem for $150. It is a lot to spend on something as unnecessary as a facial steamer, but I was very impressed by its professional quality and the amount of steam it produces. Although completely unnecessary and it takes up a lot of space, I am glad I purchased this item.

  • Mingle Cut and Color

Getting my hair done at the Mingle Salon by Brian is really an experience. He hand paints my hair with highlighter so it looks completely natural. He is really a master hair colorist. Brian also has an upcoming jewelry and accessories line. He is a brilliant creative.

  • September Birchbox

    2015-09-25_007B

My September Birchbox was filled with mostly good products. I was very excited to get a Club Clio Kill Black liquid eyeliner! I was also happy to get a Tocca scrub in Bianca. I had gotten a Tocca Bianca perfume sample in a previous Birchbox and then decided to buy a full size bottle. I also was happy to receive dr. brant pores no more cleanser. I have gotten the pores no more vacuum cleaner mask before but I like the cleanser better. I also liked the Rene Futerer Absolue Keratine renewal leave-in cream. It is a hair-strengthening keratin treatment that helps restore health and beauty back into your hair.

However, I received a couple of products that I’m not too happy about. I got a Helmut Lang cuiron perfume sample that has a very strong and intense smell. I liked it at first, but over time I just couldn’t really fall in love with it. Maybe it would be better on a man. Anyway, I also received a bbrowbar highlighter which I am probably using wrong. I can’t quite figure out how to make this product look good on me. The product I really didn’t like was the ModelCo ultra long-lasting lipstick in Smitten. The cap was hard to remove, and when I opened the lipstick, the whole stick flew out and fell on my floor. After I cleaned it off, I tried on the color, which was really not for me. I have no idea if the color is long-lasting, because I removed it almost immediately off my lips. It was a really awful color on me.

I rate my September Birchbox as a 60+/40-. I was overall happy with my box mainly because of the Club Clio Kill Black eyeliner.

  • E-Zoo

By some random miracle, I got free tickets to Electric Zoo, an EDM music festival on Randal’s Island NYC. My brother and some friends went to the first night on Friday, and I guess either had enough or wanted a break on Saturday, so he gave the left over tickets to me for free that weren’t going to be used that day. My boyfriend and I had a great time! It was nicely spread out and had a couple of different tents / stages that had different types of music playing.

I’ll go into more detail later, but I just wanted to get these pictures up.
